Rimas Šapauskas

Kingdom is an attempt by the actor Rimas Šapauskas to reflect on himself and on the impact of media, especially of television, on the disappearance of critical thinking and the hidden longing for royalism and for a ‘strong hand’. The actor Mindaugas meets a fictional character – king Mindė. He is no more King Mindaugas of the 13th century, he is a contemporary king Mindė from television who, with his court, a kingdom of trivial entertainment, has popped out of the screen. Angry and dumb, the king of one day sits in a throne. The surrealist farce continues. The sense of reality disappears. The distinction between people and fictional setup evaporates.
