'An Aggregate Body', a lecture by AFF architekten (Berlin)
2010.V.06
Thursday, May 6, 6 pm, CAC Reading Room

The Contemporary Art Centre kindly invites you to the lecture 'An Aggregate Body' by the Berlin-based architect group AFF Architekten, internationally noted for their experimental approach to architectural design.

AFF architekten founded their office in 1998 and are currently based in library venues built during the GDR period in Berlin. In their practice AFF propose to return to the basic structures of design and are predominantly engaged in designing public buildings and individual housing.

AFF became noted internationally following the reconstruction of the Freudenstein castle in Freiburg, Germany, which was converted into a museum devoted to mining and mineralogy. The project received significant attention from the international design and architectural press. In 2010, they completed Hutznhaisl; a concrete sculpture-like house for hikers in the Fichtelberg mountains, which also generated much discussion and interest..

AFF have exhibited in Berlin (2009), Stuttgart (2007), Vienna (2004).
In 2009 they presented their work in the book An Aggregate Body published by Ernst Wasmuth Verlag.
