The project 'Hurts So Good' in Vilnius will present a show of 13 young artists, having recently graduated the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. The artists will present their video works and video documentation of their live performances. The Jan van Eyck Academy is one of the most famous art schools in the world. It is distinct for the intensive interdisciplinary research, carried out in and between the fields of fine arts, design and theory. Being a 'post-academic' educational institution, it focuses on the research and possibilities of the collaborative processes rather than on 'learning' as perceived in the casual sense of the word. Therefore, the CAC was eager to introduce the specific approach and distinctness of the academic method of the Jan van Eyck Academy to the broader public. Since the presentation of the Vilnius Academy of Arts will simultaneously take place at the centre, the project of the Jan van Eyck Academy students could provide a comparative perspective and broader context. Since the exhibition 'Hurts So Good' has no overall theme, another important part of the project is a catalogue, contextualising the works shown and introducing the artists to the public. The publication will provide images of the works and short texts: descriptions of the work, texts by the artists and short editorial texts by the curator of the project Steve Rushton.
