A performance for the cinema „Wayward 29: Projection Apprentice“ by Mark Aerial Waller, which took place on the 6th of September in 2012, marked the opening of the CAC Cinema – a new film space, distinct for its original architecture and special programme, which seeks for a creative dialogue between institutionally separate spheres of cinema and contemporary audiovisual art. This aim was obvious in the opening performance, where the film screening included live actions, which were implemented following special instructions for a projectionist and viewers. The authors of the CAC Cinema interior – architects and artists Audrius Bučas and Valdas Ozarinskas – have transformed this new film space into a huge art installation, offering comfortable seats for up to 100 viewers.

The CAC Cinema pays special attention to presenting the world cinema. It is constantly looking for manifestations of new cinematic expressions, experiments, distinct forms of narration and overpasses the standard boundaries between film types and genres. The CAC Cinema encompasses institutional division and encourages interaction between art world and film world. It also offers previously very rare opportunities for the artists to exhibit their films on the big screen in Lithuania. In the country which doesn’t have a cinematheque, CAC Cinema on constant basis offers retrospectives and reflections on film history, combining it with contemporary film discourse. The CAC Cinema collaborates with film festivals and other Lithuanian and international film and contemporary art institutions.

Films at the CAC Cinema are screened from Wednesdays to Sundays.

Full ticket price: 4,50 Eur.

For school pupils, students, retired persons - 2.50 Eur.

The CAC Cinema ticket is also valid for the CAC exhibitions till 8 pm.
