„An Aggregate Body“, a lecture by „AFF architekten“ (Berlin)
Thursday, May 6, 6 pm, CAC Reading Room
Contemporary Art Centre kindly invites you to a lecture „An Aggregate Body“ by the AFF Architekten, an architect group from Berlin, internationally noted for their experimental architectural design.
„AFF architekten“ founded their office in 1998. Currently they are based in library venues built in the GDR period in Berlin. In their practice AFF propose to return to the basic structures of design. AFF are mostly engaged in designing public buildings and individual housing.
AFF became noted internationally after the reconstruction of Freudenstein castle in Freiburg, Germany, and adjustment of it to the museum of minerals. This object received a lot of resonance and attention of the international design and architectural press. This year they finished a sculpture-like concrete house for the hikers Hutznhaisl in Fichtelberg mountains which triggered a lot of dicussion and interest.
AFF works were demonstrated in the exhibitions in Berlin (2009), Stuttgart (2007), Vienna (2004). In 2009 they presented their work in a book „An Aggregate Body“ published by Ernst Wasmuth Verlag.
